Shipping Update: Moving Operations to the U.S.

Hi my lovelies,

As some of you are already aware, I’ve made a change to how Blackwood Castle orders are shipped. In the past, I shipped everything directly from Canada. However, with the constantly changing tariff rules and ongoing uncertainty, I had to make a difficult decision: moving all of my stock to the U.S. for fulfillment

This isn’t about prioritizing American customers, but simply a matter of survival as a small business. The pace of changes to tariffs and import rules has made it impossible to keep up while staying sustainable. This decision came after a lot of thought and careful consideration.

What this means for you

  • U.S. customers: Your orders will now ship from within the U.S., so tariffs and duties will not be an issue.
  • Canadian customers: I’ll continue monitoring the situation closely. At this time, I don’t expect the new tariffs to affect things. The de minimis exemption was already lifted for goods made in China, so there hasn’t been a duty-free threshold for a while.

In the past, when I shipped from Canada to US customers using USPS, only a couple of shipments (out of hundreds) were ever charged duties, and that was dealt with by the customer and I. The reality is that USPS and Canada Post just don’t have the infrastructure to actively collect customs on most shipments. I hope this remains the case.

If you’re in Canada and you do happen to get hit with duties, please let me know. We’ll work through it together.

This wasn’t a decision I took lightly, but it was necessary to keep Blackwood Castle going in the long term. Thank you for your continued support and for being part of this journey! It means more than I can say.

Lots of love,

Yasaman
